Chemical Peel or HydraFacial? Choosing a Treatment for Aging Skin and Uneven Tone

If your main concern is fine lines, sun damage, uneven tone or texture, a professional peel or a targeted treatment such as the Circadia Switch usually does more than a hydrating facial. A HydraFacial is better when you want a no-downtime glow and deep cleansing. Here is how the options on our menu compare. Prices are current and can change.

Treatments Compared

TreatmentPriceTimeTargets
PCA Skin Chemical Peel$15060 minFine lines, sun damage and uneven texture
PCA Skin 4% Pure Retinol Peel$19960 minCollagen stimulation, fine lines, texture and tone
Circadia Switch$18570 minSigns of aging and pigmentation
HydraFacial Signature$19945 minCleansing, exfoliation and hydration with no downtime

When a Peel Makes Sense

Professional peels exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin, so they suit concerns that sit in the surface layers: dull skin, sun damage, rough texture and fine lines. The PCA Skin 4% Pure Retinol Peel adds a retinol component that is designed to stimulate collagen and improve tone and texture.

When the Circadia Switch Makes Sense

The Circadia Switch is aimed at signs of aging and pigmentation together, which makes it a good fit if uneven tone is your main frustration alongside fine lines.

When a HydraFacial Is the Better Choice

A HydraFacial cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates in one visit with no downtime, so it suits you if you want a glow before an event or a regular maintenance facial. It is not designed to treat pigmentation or lines on its own. Read the full comparison in HydraFacial vs. a traditional facial, or see our HydraFacial prices.

What to Expect After a Peel

  • Your skin may feel tight and look pink, and some people see light flaking over the following days.
  • Avoid picking or peeling skin, and skip other exfoliating products until your technician says otherwise.
  • Use sunscreen daily. Skin is more sensitive to the sun after a peel.
  • Tell us if you use retinoids or prescription skin products, have sensitive skin, or are pregnant, before any peel.

Results vary from person to person. A single treatment can improve how skin looks, but visible change in tone or lines usually takes a series, and we will tell you honestly what to expect at your consultation.
